Semiconductor Design Recruitment

What is IC Design

Semiconductor design is the process of creating the circuits and components that make electronics work, such as processors, memory chips, and sensors.

It involves planning and structuring tiny electrical pathways on a chip to perform specific functions.

This process has two main steps: Designing the architecture and then physically implementing it. Designers work with software to model how the chip will function, ensuring it’s efficient, reliable, and can handle the desired tasks.

These chips end up in everyday devices—smartphones, cars, computers, and more—powering the technology we rely on.

Essentially, semiconductor design shapes the brains of modern electronics.

Roles in IC Design

Semiconductor design companies host a range of specialised positions focused on creating advanced chips. Key positions include:
  • IC Design Engineers – plan circuit layouts
  • Verification Engineers – test designs for accuracy and reliability
  • RTL Design Engineers – Create the chip’s logic design to define its functionality.
  • Physical Design Engineers – handle the physical placement of circuits on chips
  • ASIC Engineers – design custom chips
  • Firmware Engineers – develop software that interfaces with hardware
  • Product and Test Engineers – ensure chips meet quality standards
  • Design Managers – oversee teams and projects
  • EDA Tool Developers – create software used in design
  • Project Managers – coordinate timelines and resources
These roles ensure the efficient creation of cutting-edge chips.
